On Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, Benadir University organized the YALI Regional Leadership Center training event for its students as part of the university’s effort to explore potential academic training programs to upgrade student levels across all disciplines.
The one-day timely event was held at the university’s Prof. Addow campus, focusing on the theme “stimulating youth potential.”
The event was led by the university’s alumni, Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Adeid, newly elected chairperson of the YALI Regional Leadership Center, East Africa, Alumni Somalia Chapter, and guest of honor. He expressed to students how the program can empower and shape their future as the next bright generation of academics and leaders both within and outside Somalia.
Presenters included Ms. Esmaham Mohamed Osman, a YALI and Benadir University alumni, and Mr. Abdikarim Mohamed Ahmed, who’s part of the executive committee for the Partnership and Resource Mobilization Somalia Alumni Chapter.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Esmaham Mohamed Osman, as a YALI and Benadir University alumni, encouraged students to join YALI through yearly applications.
“YALI provides opportunities through its diverse academic training programs aimed at grooming a young and strong generation of leaders in East Africa,” she added.
In his presentation, Mr. Abdikarim Mohamed Ahmed, who is part of the executive committee for the Partnership and Resource Mobilization Somali Alumni Chapter, stressed students’ need to join and bring positive change to their communities with the essential knowledge provided by the YALI programs.
The event concluded successfully with final remarks from Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi Nuh, coordinator of English language and event organizer, who advised students to always take part in every single training program offered to them by the university.
